Amongst other distinctions, I was awarded a World Cultural Council Award in recognition of the transformative effect of my publications and outreach in 2017, the Ammodo Science Award for fundamental research in the Humanities in 2019, and the Dr Hendrik Muller Prize for laudable contributions to the Humanities in 2021. Lisa Jardine’s Centre of Editing Lives and Letters in 2006, and lecturing at Leiden University since 2007, in November 2008 I was awarded my PhD in English Literature ‘cum laude‘ (with distinction) from the VU Amsterdam. Having also been a visiting scholar at Queen Mary, University of London, at Prof. I studied English Language and Literature at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam from 1996 to 2001.
